Problem Solving Overview
VPM includes two proven approaches to problem solving, each designed to help teams move together toward better understanding before choosing actions. These methods are not primarily about generating fast answers; they are about creating shared clarity so teams stop debating assumptions and start solving the right problem.
In practice, most of the effort is spent defining the problem well. Once the team sees the issue through the same lens, strong solutions usually become obvious. Without that shared view, teams tend to produce scattered opinions, misaligned actions, and weak follow-through.
This operating mindset draws heavily from Toyota's problem-solving culture: slow down enough to understand the real issue, then act decisively on process improvement rather than blame.
